Description: Lett + Sweetland Architects were appointed as design and concept architects.  The scheme links Worcester's High Street and The Shambles, two of the City's busiest shopping streets and sits in the heart of the City Conservation Area immediately opposite the historic Guildhall.

The arcade replaces a previous arcade constructed in the late 1950's which had become run down and comprised a large number of small units which had become increasingly difficult to let.  The new scheme simplifies the previous 'dog leg' arrangement of pedestrian routes with a single more generous width walkway which has a fully glazed roof for the majority of its length.

At the Shambles end, the arcade is extended into The Shambles by a glazed canopy and the curved and angled forms of the buildings are designed to encourage access into the arcade.  At first floor level an angled projecting glazed bay affords shoppers views along The Shambles and provides the tenant an opportunity for inventive use, i.e. a seating and coffee area to browse through books.
