NEW MEMBER’S AND PLAYER’S PAVILION
Phase One of redevelopment of WCCC
Client: Worcestershire County Cricket Club
On Site:: 2008-2009
Contractor: Speller-Metcalfe
Contract Value: £1,500,000
Description:
Raised above flood level, this pavilion provides facilities and accommodation for members and players. It replaced the historic pavilion which will be re-constructed in a later phase.
The steel frame building features balconies and terracing with expansive glazing and sliding glazed doors in order to take advantage of the world famous view over the ground to the cathedral beyond.
The building makes use of lightweight, dry construction to allow a fast build in between cricket seasons.
Despite flooding during construction, the pavilion was opened in time 0n 30th May 2009 by the Governor of the Bank of England as The Graeme Hick Pavilion and in time for the visit of the Australian team in July.
Further phases include a hotel and hospitality facilities.
